Glazy Plugins for the Lazy and Impatient

Random bits of collected insanity

My Glazy Toolbox (beta)

Here’s a bunch of JavaScript bookmarklets I’ve made to help me use Glazy.org more effectively and efficiently (or just to my liking ;-) ).

What started as a few little time-savers has grown into a whole collection of tools for managing recipes, mixing glazes, exploring chemistry, and avoiding an insane amount of repetitive clicking.

And now they’re all available through Ronald’s Glazy Toolbox!

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Glazy may update its code and break these scripts… and you can inadvertently run them on the wrong recipes. They’re good, helpful, but not infallible!

FYI: Glazy is AMAZING! These are just my own grumpy mutterings…

DRAG the button into your bookmarks bar — DON’T CLICK IT! 😉

Ronald’s Glazy Toolbox ← Drag this one!

Then open Glazy.org, sign in, and switch to your Glazy tab. While viewing that page, click your new bookmark to open the toolbox.

That’s it! The latest version loads automatically. Install once, glaze forever.

Bookmarks bar missing? Safari → View → Show Favourites Bar.

On iPhone or iPad? Open “Can’t drag? Copy it instead” below, copy the bookmarklet address, then create a Safari bookmark and edit its address to paste the code. Switch to your Glazy.org tab and tap your new bookmark.

Can’t drag? Copy it instead.

Create a bookmark and replace its address with this code. On iPhone or iPad, edit a saved bookmark.

A little about what these tools can (and can’t) do…

Some of these tools simply save a ridiculous amount of clicking. Others give you a more informed starting point — whether you’re substituting materials (rather than blindly swapping one frit for another), or figuring out how much water your glaze bucket needs.

They’re not magical answers, and estimates are no guarantee of success! But the idea is to reduce the guesswork, make experimentation a little more reliable, and hopefully spark some curiosity along the way.

And yes… you still need to TEST! 😜

So what’s in Ronald’s Glazy Toolbox?

  • “Dear lord, I ain’t got none of that in my pile of glaze materials…”

    Glaze Substitution Tool

Tell the tool what’s actually in your cupboard, and it’ll find alternative recipes with closely matching chemistry — considerably less arithmetic!

    Glaze Substitution Tool
  • “How much glaze is actually in my bucket… and how much water do I need?!?”

Wet Glaze Calculator (like… Specific Gravity and stuff)

Estimate the dry glaze and water in your bucket, calculate additions, or work out how much water to add to a fresh batch.

    Wet Glaze Calculator
  • “A little one just for when I mix up a batch…”

    Mixing Checklist

Check off materials as you weigh them, with ingredients conveniently organised into a more practical mixing order.

  • "... click click click... pushing my buttons"

    Bulk Update Details

“WHY do I have to set cone 6, neutral/oxidation, blah blah blah on EACH recipe INDIVIDUALLY?!?”

Change recipe details, descriptions, names, and more across all selected recipes at once… because doing it individually drove me NUTS!

    Save All

“Saving a blend (or any batchstorm of new recipes)… oh SO many names to update and buttons to click!!!”

Save all your unsaved recipes together, optionally prepending or appending text to their names.

  • “How much do you love uploading your blend results… one at a time!!!”

    Blend Management & Photos

Find an existing line, triaxial, or biaxial blend, or save the one you’ve just calculated, organise its recipes, and upload all those test-tile photographs without the endless clicking.

    Triaxial Blends & Photos
  • “Because apparently glazes need filing too.”

    Colour Blends & Photos

Create coaxial colour blends from a base recipe, organise the resulting recipes, and upload photographs when your tests are fired.

    Colour Blends & Photos
  • "I'm getting old..."

    Print & Reorder

“Now this is just getting petty… but I like my UMF in colour, a bigger photo of the test tile, a big title, and bigger text (I’m getting old).”

Customise Glazy’s print layout and ingredient order, keeping complete recipes together on the page.

    Glaze Label Printer

“Because apparently even my glaze buckets need their own little identity cards…”

Print compact or full-recipe labels directly from Glazy using a Phomemo M110 thermal label printer.

  • Want to support my insanity…?

I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time developing these little tools!
